Omnipod 5 vs Omnipod DASH: Which Pods Can You Sell?
Share
Updated September 2026
Quick answer: We buy Omnipod 5 supplies only. A sealed Omnipod 5 5-pack of pods pays $130 to $150 and a sealed Omnipod 5 Starter Kit pays $180 to $260, depending on months until expiration. We buy boxes with at least 9 months left before expiry. Omnipod DASH pods are not currently on our buy list. The product name printed on the front of the box tells you which one you have.
What's the difference between Omnipod 5 and Omnipod DASH?
Both are tubeless insulin pods made by Insulet. The difference is the system they run on:
- Omnipod 5 is an automated insulin delivery system. It connects to a compatible CGM and adjusts insulin automatically.
- Omnipod DASH is the earlier system. You set and adjust delivery yourself from a handheld controller.
The pods are not interchangeable between the two systems, which is why the box you have matters. Omnipod 5 is the current system most new users start on, and it's the one with resale demand.
How to tell which pods you have
- Read the front of the box. It says either Omnipod 5 or Omnipod DASH.
- Check whether it's a pod pack or a starter kit. Pod packs hold 5 pods. A starter kit is the first-order kit and is labeled as such.
- Find the expiration date on the box label. Omnipod prices count months from today until that date.
Omnipod boxes don't need a REF-code check like Dexcom does.
What each Omnipod 5 box is worth
| Omnipod 5, 5-pack of pods | Per box |
|---|---|
| 12+ months until expiration | $150 |
| 9 to 11 months | $130 |
| Under 9 months | Not accepted |
| Omnipod 5 Starter Kit | Per kit |
|---|---|
| 12+ months until expiration | $260 |
| 9 to 11 months | $180 |
| Under 9 months | Not accepted |
Pods are changed every few days, so a 90-day supply is typically six 5-packs: $900 at the top tier. That's why Omnipod is the highest-value product people find in their closets.
What if I have DASH pods?
We can't make an offer on them right now. If you're not using them, a free clinic or diabetes nonprofit may accept sealed, unexpired DASH pods as a donation. Call first, since acceptance rules vary. And if you're still receiving DASH shipments you don't need, ask your pharmacy or supplier to pause them.
What else has to be true
- Factory sealed and unopened, in the original box. No loose pods.
- Bought in the U.S. and not funded by Medicare, Medicaid, TRICARE, or the VA (why).
- Mint condition. Boxes with dents or dings, writing, adhesive residue, crushed corners, torn or half-peeled labels, or water damage are not accepted (condition guide).
